We've recently introduced a few changes to the shop web site. Most importantly, there is now a facility to post comments regarding individual products on offer. Feel free to use this to tell you what you think! We shall read all comments and reply to them and (if necessary) get back to you individually. Eventually there will be an RSS feed for product comments (by product and globally) when I get around to looking at RSS feeds for the site. There will also be »reader« and »instructor« forums -- the code for that is sitting on my disk just now but needs finishing off.
We have also improved the code behind the scenes to let it deal better with shopping carts. The main user-visible change (other than fewer »server errors«) concerns the following scenario: Suppose you have logged in to the shop and put some things into your shopping cart. You log out and call it a day. The next morning you visit the shop and don't log in before you put more things into a new shopping cart. The question is what will happen when you then log in: Do we forget your old cart, your new cart, or do we merge the two? The current (new) code will hang on to your new cart if it contains any items; otherwise your old cart will be reinstated. Obviously, you can avoid this hassle completely by always logging in whenever you visit the shop! What do you think -- is this method workable or would you like to see something else?
